How to submit your music to Spotify playlists and blogs?

Updated: Feb 18, 2021

So you've put in all the blood, sweat and tears and finished a song. You now have to move on the most daunting task, promoting it and making sure it reaches a wider audience. You gather the e-mails and contact details of all the blogs and spotify playlisters you can get your hands on, send them your song with a beautifully crafted e-mail... and all this just to end up in a folder in their inbox that's tagged 'Submissions (1700+)', a folder that they never intend to or have the time to read through. But rest assured there is a solution for this, and they come in the form of music pitching services. Below we have details on the best and most trustworthy music pitching services out there :

Before we get into it though, none of these platforms guarantee placement of your song. They only guarantee that the curators and bloggers will give your song a proper chance and provide you with valuable feedback if they feel your song is not the best fit. Receiving money for guaranteed placements is Illegal and unethical.

This platform was started by Jason Grishkoff in late 2015. It's a well laid out platform that connects artists with curators, blogs and influencers. In this platform you buy credits that are roughly worth 1USD per credit. You then have the choice of submitting music to a wide variety of spotify playlistsers, Blogs, Radio Stations, Youtube channels, Souncloud channels and Instagram/Tiktok Influencers.

So the first step is to upload your song to the platform, and then it will take you to a page where you can choose the right genre for your song.

Submithub has a genre match system as seen below that tells you if that particular outlet has been accepting songs that are similar or of the same genre as your music:

You can then choose the type of credit you want to use, Premium credits are worth money (1USD per credit), while standard credits are free of cost, but free credits don't guarantee a response from the curators, whereas when you use a premium credit you are guaranteed that the outlet will get back to you within 48 hours, and will also have to listen to at least 20 seconds of your song before accepting or rejecting it.

You then get to choose whether the curator has to give you original feedback. If you don't really care about feedback then you can choose one of the other two options. The option on the far right forces the curator to listen to at least 90 seconds of your song, but they don't really need to give you feedback if they don't like it, they can just instantly reject it.

Once you've picked these options, you can go ahead and pick which curator you want to submit your music to. There are three grades of curators based on their quality and influence, you have curators that charge 1,2 or 3 credits. So you can filter them out based on your budgets.

After this all you have to do is await their reply and hope you get placed on their platform!

Playlist Push is a platform that operates in a slightly different way than SubmitHub. This platform mainly hosts Spotify playlisters and Tiktok Influencers, as of recently. Playlist push works on a campaign basis, where you tell the platform what your budget is and then they will do all the work of making sure your song gets pitched to the right curators.

This is how it works, you first setup a campaign:

You need to fill in the form and upload your song.

You can then specify your rough budget and send your song through to the company for review.

Once they make sure all the links are working and your song fits their guidelines, they will get back to you and ask you to specify a budget for your campaign. The higher the budget, the more your music will get pitched to bigger curators on the platform.

Campaigns last for 14 days. The Playlist Push systems will take care of everything for you, they will pitch your music to multiple curators based on your budgets. You will then receive feedback from the curators and hopefully get placed on a bunch of spotify playlists.

3. Groover

Groover is a platform started by Dorian Perron from France. This platform works in a very similar way to SubmitHub where you have a system of credits called 'Grooviz'. You can simply create an account. Pick the genres of your choice and go ahead and submit your song to one of their curators.

The curators you submit will have to get back to you with an answer within 7 days or you get your money back.

Stream Catcher is a more boutique platform which has a powerful network of curators for both Youtube and Spotify. They are relatively cheap and charge a flat 15$ fee to submit your music to them. Once you submit to them they guarantee that they will get back to you in 7 days or you get a full refund. If they feel your song is not the right fit then their curators will get back to you with detailed feedback on your song explaining why it didn't fit their networks. This could be really valuable to you as an artist to get real world feedback on your music!

All you need to do is fill in this simple form and complete the payment and you're good to go!

So what are you waiting for, go ahead and get your music out there with these well designed systems set in place for you. All the best!
